August 8th.  The Wind S. blowing pretty fresh &generally cloudy & dark weather with a moist fog in the Evening,but made no rain: Paid Mr. Lewis Evans the Post Master of LLanerchymedd i8s. for my News Papers by the Orders of Mr. Sawtell that sends them.

9th.  The Wind S. blowing pretty fresh, cloudy &dark weather, & made 2 or 3 times some very little rain in the Evening: I finished to day getting all my hay in.
i0th.  The Wind S. calm, Sun shiny & pleasant all this day & the Air hot & sultry & dry all day: Pd. Marged ’chuw Morus iid. for a poor quarter of Mutton, & pd Rhŷs Bentir is. i0d. for a quarter of Veal,& paid the Woman of Brocket hall 3d. for 2^straw^ quarts of Potatoes·
iith.  The Wind S. blowing fresh; especially in the morning & till 3 in the Evening & attended for the most part with a small driving rain till 3 in the Evening . Paid Owen Hughes ye Smith's bill being 4L. 3s.
i2th.  The Wind W. blowing moderate & generally Sun shiny,but dry all this day: gave 5s. towards a Collection in Church for John Rowland the Idiot whom the parish maintains by paying his Sister 3 pounds a year for boarding & lodging of ^him^them ; which sum [there is a curlicue over the 'm' sw] was designed to be raised by several Collections for him in his own proper parish & not to go a begging for him into other parishes (as the Custom is in this Countrey ) but this method to procure the money stipulated for his Nursing being found i[n sw] practicable [Nesta Evans gives 'impracticable' sw] by the stingy & unge[r sw]erous [Nesta Evans gives 'ungenerous' sw] nature of the people of this parish (who besides my own family ) gave among them but 2s. this being the Case the poor Idiot who is i8 years of age must be supported by a tax to be assessed upon this parish by a pound rate when those sneaking ungenerous people that refused to contribute willingly towards the support of such an object will be obliedged to pay equall with those that were most willing to sup- - port him by a Collection .
i3th.  The Wind E. blowing moderate, Sun shiny fair & warm all this day,&made no rain.
i4th.  The Wind S. blowing fresh, cloudy & dark weather for the most part, & made a shower or two of rain in the Evening: To Day I begun to —– reap: Paid to day into the hands of Henry Owen of Wern LLanddona for ye use of Thomas Sion Ellis Drover 80L. which ^like^ Sum [there is a wavy line over 'um' sw] he had paid for me in London for the use of my Daughter.
