April 24th.  The Wind W.S.W. cold, stormy & boisterous, and raining cold showers most part of the day ——
25th.  The Wind S.W. boisterous & stormy, but made no rain – till about 9 in the Evening that it rained very hard for near an hour, LLannerchymedd Fair proved very bad, poor rates, and very little asking, & less buying; the generall complaint bing want of money.
26th.  The Wind S. dark & cloudy in the Morning & very cold & wet about 8 it begun to rain, and rained mighty <hard.> till near ii. the rest of the day fair & dry except some small slight showers
27th.  The Wind S.S.W a violent stormy, windy day from Morn till night, about 5 it begun to rain, and rained extream hard for 3 hours together, being withall mighty cold all day, my people still sowing of Barley, tho, very wet and dirty, planted some Cabbages to day.
28th.  The Wind W.S.W. fair and dry, but cold, & something – windy in the Evening. gave Owen John Rowland my Tenant at Bodlŵyfan 4s. to go in my stead to a Cocking at Franci[s sw] Hughes ' s house of the Colledge in LLanfaethly, takeing – ☞ [this symbol is in the margin pointing at this line sw] with him my Cock that is by his house, Set this day Tyddŷ[n sw] y Silied in the Township of Clegyrog to Thomas Hughes of Bodegri for the Term of one year at the usuall Rent of two pounds five shillings, & the usuall presents of 2 Hens 6 Chick[? sw] & 2 days reaping, and haveing the house in good repair, if he parts at the year's end he is to lay one load of straw upon it My Cock. to day at LLanfaethly Cocking lost the first battle, breaking his thigh the 2d. or third flight.
29th.  The Wind W. fair & dry, but very cold. set out to day about i0 to ye Annuall Cocking at LLandyfrydog for Silver spoons, (see Pag.24th came to that place about 12. begun to fight about i (there being 16 Cocks, & 16 Spoons to be fought for) & finished by 7. laid down 17s.6d each the Price of the Spoons being 15s. for One Eight. & 14s.6d. ye other Eight I got one battle, & consequently one spoon, which with the money—–
