24th. The Wind S.W blowing fresh, fair & dry, appeared in the Morning Court when the Grand Jury were called, & returned by Hugh Price an Attorney who is Deputy Sherrif & Father in Law to Robert Lewis the Viccar of LLanidan, who I verily believe had the appointing of the Grand Jury, who in order to ingratiate himself to his Brother & to show what esteem Hugh Price (his Father in Law) had for him gave him the [precedence sw] of [Gentleman sw] and all his worthy Family had for Mr. Lewis of LLysdulas who is now allied to Hugh ∎∎ice [presume 'Price' sw], (the Son of Rhys ap Pugh Morris a P[e sw]dlar in Trewalchmai) his brother Robt. Lewis haveing married Hugh Price's Daughter Hugh Price I say returned Mr. Lewis Foreman of the Grand Jury thereby giveing him the precedence of severall Gentlemen that I suppose thought themselves superior both in Birth & fortune, and Separated [me sw] (whom he knew to have always been inseparable friends) as far distant from him as he could possibly do, even below them that he knew to be inf[e sw]riour to me in fortune and Commission, thinking I do b[e sw]live thereby to please one by Exalting him, and to put a contempt upon me in the face of the countrey by depressing me. yt the World may Judge whether I wrong him, I shall here insert a list of the Grand Jury, as Followeth |
