April 22d.  The Wind W.S.W. blowing high & raining hard all the morning, was treated by the Sherriff (Mr. Wm. Wynne of Wern) at Dinner pd afterwards 10d. for liquor, & gave Mr. Lawes the Judge's clark (who is Sr. Wm. Chapple) 2s. 6d for haveing my Answer sworn
23.d.  The Wind S.S.W. pretty calm & warm, pd for my horses 5s. 6d for my Man's meat 3s. for his drink 3s. 3d. for Coffee 6d. for my Lodging 7s. 6d. gave the poor 4d. set out from Carnarvan about 12 in Company with Mr. Da. Lloyd. The King's Attorney=Kyffyn, & his son came to the Ferry where I pd. 2d. The Judge who had come there before us treated all the Company at Dinner at Thomas Wms. the Ferry house __ came to Beaumares ’twixt 5 & 6d. pd the Barber 6d–
24th.  The Wind S.W blowing fresh, fair & dry, appeared in the Morning Court when the Grand Jury were called, & returned by Hugh Price an Attorney who is Deputy Sherrif & Father in Law to Robert Lewis the Viccar of LLanidan, who I verily believe had the appointing of the Grand Jury, who in order to ingratiate himself to his Brother & to show what esteem Hugh Price (his Father in Law) had for him gave him the [precedence sw] of [Gentleman sw] and all his worthy Family had for Mr. Lewis of LLysdulas who is now allied to Hugh ∎∎ice [presume 'Price' sw], (the Son of Rhys ap Pugh Morris a P[e sw]dlar in Trewalchmai) his brother Robt. Lewis haveing married Hugh Price's Daughter Hugh Price I say returned Mr. Lewis Foreman of the Grand Jury thereby giveing him the precedence of severall Gentlemen that I suppose thought themselves superior both in Birth & fortune, and Separated [me sw] (whom he knew to have always been inseparable friends) as far distant from him as he could possibly do, even below them that he knew to be inf[e sw]riour to me in fortune and Commission, thinking I do b[e sw]live thereby to please one by Exalting him, and to put a contempt upon me in the face of the countrey by depressing me. yt the World may Judge whether I wrong him, I shall here insert a list of the Grand Jury, as Followeth
