Here begins the year i758
January ist.  The Wind E. blowing pretty fresh, dark cloudy & very cold freezing weather all day; the frost this morning was- pretty thick on the water·
2d.  The Wind E. blowing very fresh & exceeding cold, having freezed very hard last night, as it does all this day, yet very dark and cloudy weather.
3d.  The Wind W. sun shiny & fair & thawing all day, it brought down some hail last night, and rained sometime before day & still continues thawing .
4th.  The Wind S. W. blowing very moderate, generally cloudy & dark & raining hard about noon: Paid my Sister 33L. being the remainder of what I owed her by Note, & took up my Note.
5th.  The Wind W. blowing very moderate, but very cold & raw and exceeding wet after the great rain that fell last: pd. Wm. Prichard 4L. 5s. for i5 Gallons of butter at the rate of 5s. 8d. a Gallon·
6th.  The Wind S. calm, dark & cloudy, but very mild & warm for the time of the year; Spent this day in entertaining my Neighbours,rich and poor: Pd. Mr. John Bulkeley 7s. 2d. more, being one years rent moreforthe King 's land than what I had given him, & in full to last Allsts. gave also 5s. to the Clark of this parish as new year's gift·
7th.  The Wind S. W. calm, dark & close weather & very mild all this day likewise, but rained hard this night.
8th.  The Wind S. W. calm, mild weather all this day : The Curate Priest preached on Heb: Chap: 9th. & verse 27th.
