January· 12th.  The Wind S. blowing fresh, and generally dry all day except a small Shower about noon : pd. Robert Owen 17s. 9d.2/1 for digging stones at Cnewchdernog : finished my planting all the Forest Trees I intend to plant this year,having planted at the bottom of the hedges in Cae ' r Fuwch Wen and Cae ffrŵd y wrâch (where I planted also haw thorn & Crab) i39 Ash Trees, besides some few ^being 10^ ElmsI planted at Cae'r allt – ddu, & i Elm at Cae'r Gegin, & i Eugh in the fir walk & i in CaeTy'n y llwyn.
13th.  The Wind W. blowing fresh and cold & drying well all day : a great congregation to day at LLanfechell Church, notwith- - standing LLanelian Wakes.
14th.  The Wind W. blowing fresh and very cold, and drying well all day and generally Sun shiny . Pd. 6s. i0d. being an assessment of 2d. in the pound towards building a Gaol: This is a project of the hot headed Jacobites of this countrey: it has been attempted by them several years ago,& now effected,which will entail an eternal charge upon the Countrey: Every sheriff heretofore being satisfyed with the house the Gaoler lived in for a Gaol.
15th. 10● [this is written vertically in the margin below '15th.' sw] The Wind W. blowing fresh and cold and generally cloudy &dark but continued dry all day, my people are these 6 or 7 last days – past makeing up a Pinfold at Coydan in Cae'r Garnedd & Cae'r Ital ·
16th.  The Wind W. & by N. blowing very moderate, yet very cold,but generally Sun Shiny & fair all day .
17th.  The Wind S. & by E. blowing very high and stormy all day, attended with some driveing rain; the night was very stormy and made a great deal of rain.
i8th.  The Wind S. blowing fresh with a mizling rain till 9: the rest of the day was Sun shiny, fair and dry: pd. Mr. Thomas Price of Glanalaw Attorney at Law (who was concerned for my Mother in – prosecuting for rents in LLeyn) I paid him I say 26 pounds 8 shillings. pd. 6d. for bread .
19th.  The Wind S. blowing fresh, and generally Sun shiny &fair all day: My people still at the Pinfold at Coydan every day – save a thursday . sent 6s. 6d. to Mr. W. Morris to pay for things he bought.
20th.  The Wind N.E. blowing very moderate, but very cold, & generally cloudy and dark most part of the day : The Priest preached a dull unedifying Sermon On Psalm 143d. vers. 2d. Gave Roger Hughes the Sexton 2d. 6d. Christmas Box as usuall.
