December 22d.  The Wind S.W. blowing fresh and raining all– the morning till near ii. the Evening fair & dry, & generally cloudy & dark: the Priest preached on Psalm 37th. verses i7.& i8. pd. 9s. for 2pound of Bohea Tea. & 6d. for Eggs.
23d.  The Wind W. & by S. calm, cloudy & dark but dry all day : about 8 a clock this night word was sent me by my Brother Lewis that my Son had dyed suddenly about half an hour after 5 this Evening after a great fit of Coughing the blood gushing out of his mouth & Nostrils, & caused it is presumed by bursting a vein, or breaking of an impostume [an abscess sw]: [there is a large gap between the end of this entry and the next one sw]
24th.  The Wind W. & by S. moderate in blowing, & not cold in the morning, but the Evening cold & raw & all the day except an hour about noon cloudy and dark: Paid by the hands of John ifan to Mr.Lewis Davies's– widdow i7 pounds ten shillings in full of her Interest to the 8th. Inst. Paid likewise to Mrs. Gould for Anna Wright 40 shillings in full for her board & schooling & is. [1/- sw] it cost John Ifans in Town, gave 3s Charity to the poor, and pd. Rowland Jones the Barber of LLanerch -ymedd i2s. for a Wig.
25th.  The Wind W. blowing moderate, cloudy, close,dark weather all day – and very cold and raw, but continued dry all day : about 80 per- sons comunicated [there is a wavy line over the 'm' sw] at LLanfechell Church this day.
26th.  The Wind W. & by N very calm & raining from long before day &very hard at times till i in the Evening, the rest of the day was dry : gave 2s. to the Priest's maid [there is a mark by the 'd' that looks like an elevated colon, but I think it's two blots sw] that brought hither a present of a Ham & a side of Mutton, & 6d. to Mr Broadhead's Servant that brought Eggs & Chickens
27th.  The Wind S. W. very moderate, with some mizling rain, and cloudy, dark weather all day: My Son’s Corps being carryed on_ a horse Bier from LLysdulas, was at the Gate about 12, when the bearers went from hence to meet it, & walked along with it to the Church, where it was deposited in his zzzzmother's Grave — I gave the Priest a Guinea, & a crown to the Sexton, gave Anna Wright a Crown to give the Priest, & is. to ye Sexton, lent mySister 1/2 Guinea to Offer . there were 6 bearers, & gloves & hatbands given to above 50 people : the Company returned hither from Church, where the [coire sw] all Entertained handsomely .
