May the 25th.  The Wind N & by E. blowing fresh & exceeding cold all day; made showers of Sleet before night, and in ye night for the most part of it it rained excessive hard: A small Fair to day at LLanerchmedd & a poor one besides: Pd. i8d. for a quarter of Mutton.
26th.  The Wind N. blowing very cold and brought down hail & Sleet this morning: My Cold continues still very troublesome to me.
27th.  The Wind W. blowing pretty fresh & cold & raining hard early in the morning ; dry the rest of the day & the Evening calm & warm.
28th.  The Wind N. & by W. very moderate, but cold in the morn – – ing tho Sun shiny & clear: Sent Wm. Davies to LLysdulas to see My Brother Lewis who I was told yesterday was very sick,  God of his Mercy grant I may hear of his recovery, being my onely old & faith full friend - now left me in my Old age ! Upon the return of William Davies I found the report was altogether false & that he was preparing to go on Horseback to LLanerchmedd to prepare for Miss Jane LLoyd's Burying (he being her executor ) which is be too Morrow privately. Extraordinary and unusuall weather for cold & blasts in this time of the year! it made such a thick hoar frost last night that it blasted & blackened My Mulberry Trees & the Potatoes, And what is wonderfull My Orange Tree was not hurt: Paid for 5 Gallons of Brandy 2i shillings at the rate of 4s. 3d. a Gallon.
29th.  The Wind W & by S. dark cloudy weather & raining early in the morning as it did most part of last night: Sent the Girls to School & gave them 1s. apiece; the Servants & horses cost in Town 1s. 2d. Sent Hugh Prys the Shoe-Maker with a Cock to a Cocking at LLanelian for a Sow, it cost me there 4s. and my Cock won the Prize :
30th.  The Wind N.E. blowing moderate but cold in the morning with a hoar frost; the Sun clear & very hot; My people are these days Cutting Turf & Peat at Cae'r Mynŷdd for Winter fireing.
3ist.  The Wind N.E. blowing fresh and very cold blasting wind that - starves and withers all the tender plants, Such as Cucumbers and and Kidney Beans; the Air cloudy & dark besides which makes it very unpleasant for the time of year: Pd. 2d. for Spanish liquorice.
