January 3d. The Wind N.W. fair, Sun-shiny and calm all day but cold and freezing, which it did very hard this night.
4th.  The Wind N.N.W. calm, sun-shiny and very fair, all the Snow still lyeing upon the ground, & freezing where the Sun did not shine-
5th. The Wind E. calm, fair & Sun-shiny in the Morning, the Evening cloudy & very cold, & freezing all day; my people all ye Working days of this Week ad the same work of Carrying Muck –
6th.  The Wind E. cold, cloudy & freezing, but very calm; a great congregation to day at LLanfechell Church & ye Parson preached another part of the Sermon begun ye 16th of last month: I spent the Evening harmlesly merry with half a Do[s sw]en Neighbours,& went to bed about 12 .
7th.  The Wind E. very calm, clear & serene & freezing all day, but very moderate, and the Snow continueing still upon ye ground;
8th.  The Wind Variable from S.W. to S.E. but freezing all day, & it freezed hard this night.
9th.  The Wind E. dark & cloudy, but freezing all day with some – Snow in the Morning: This day being appointed for a generall fast by the King to implore God's Mercy & assistance agst. our Enemies (war being declared against Spain 2 Months ago ) a form of Prayer as usuall upon the like occasions haveing been neglected to be sent to the Churches;the Service for the day onely was read here, with some penitentiall — prayers used on Ash Wednesday.
10th.  The Wind E. fair, sun-shiny & clear, but freezing all day; at night the Northern lights appeared, shooting light beams from ye N. to the E.
11th.  The Wind W. gentle& warm in ye Morning, but blowing fresh& very cold in the Evening & thawing gently all the day, A very poor Markett to day at LLanfechell.
