August ist. The Wind N. and by W. very calm , sun-shiny and hott and exceeding dry; a very Small market at Llanfechell to day: gave 6d. Charity to Richd. Jon. Rowland an Old Tenant - being old and poor; pd. 4d. for fish, Viz. 4 Morts about 16 inches long & one Mackerell. |
2d. The Wind N. in the morning, dark cloudy weather& very sultry, about noon it came to S.W. & at last settled in S. made some rain about 5 in the Evening, and rained pretty hard in the night. made my Upland hay in the Morning into a Stack, and begun a stack of meadow hay,-but could not finish it for the rain,, but I put straw enough upon it to keep it from wett, I had two people in the Evening throwing up a very wet ditch that used to be so full of water that the Mere hedge betwixt Ferem and Cae Moel y Gwydde had not been sufficiently repaired in ye memory of man, & was almost levell with the Ditch; but being now dry they have thrown up all the old mud quite to the Clay which has made a broad high hedge. |
3d. The Wind E. & by N. dark cloudy weather with some mizling rain often by turns - The Parson preached on Luke Chap 16th. 1st.& 2d verses. Pd. 3d. for Ale after Evening Prayer. |
4th. The Wind N. & by E. very calm, & raining a mizling still rain till 10 a clock, dry most part of the day afterwards; my people these days are carrying home the Turf from LLyn y Gors Rŷdd . |
5th. The Wind N. very calm, but dark and cloudy all Morning; came to W. in the Evening & settled at last in S.W. Which brought smart Showers of rain before night, and it blew a great Storm all night with the rain. |
