June 29th.  The Wind S. E. blowing moderate, Sun shiny & very hot and scorching all day: Paid Cousin Humphrey Mostyn's bill being 3L. i6s. 6d. Pd. 8d. for a straw Voydar to carry meat out in the harvest; Pd. Hugh Griffith 7s. for Tinker's work, Pd. Owen Hughes the Smith's Bill being i6s. pd. Rhŷs Bentir for Butcher's meat 3s. 8d. Sent by Cos. Humphrey Mostyn to Chester iL. is. to– buy me 2 yards & half of Manchester Velvet; laid out inall 6L. 5s.
30th.  The Wind S. blowing very moderate, cloudy & dark all day, but the Air sultry and warm & made a few drops of rain about i in yeEvening three of my Servants are all this week at the same work as before- carrying of Sand; the other two employed for the 3 first days in – carrying Turf a shore from the Turbary;the rest of the week they were carting stones to ^mend^ the high way and looking after drying Oats for shelling .
July ist.   i● [this is written vertically in the margin below 'July ist.' sw]   The Wind E. & by ·S. very calm, warm and Sultry all day, but dark and cloudy with a small mizling rain all the morning, and about 12 in the forenoon it rained a soft rain pretty hard for an hour, and made some small mizling rain afterwards in the Evening: The Priest preached on Proverbs Chap: i0th & the first part of the 9th. verse
2d.  The Wind W. very calm, cloudy & overcast till 9, and the rest of the day sun shiny, very hot and sultry: Paid Mr. Bryan's bill in full being 29 shillings; Pd. also Abraham Jones's bill being 5s. 6d.Sent also by Elizabeth Jones his Daughter who goes to Chester Fair 36 shillings to buy me Sugars & other things; gave 1s. Charity to a poor Neighbour that lost a Cow.
3d.  The Wind W. & by S. very calm, cloudy & overcast, and raining a small mizling rain all the morning & till near 2in the Evening: The rest of the day was dry, but still cloudy & overcast.
4th.  The Wind W.S.W. blowing very moderate, Sun shiny, hot & Sultry- all day- My people were this day discharging Coal from Wm. Griffith's Ship, and they discharged ten Tons of Coal, & with the help of my Neighbours carryed it all home before i in the Evening : pd 6d. for beasoms.
5th.  The Wind S. & by E. blowing moderate, generally Sun shiny, but dry and fair all day : To Day I begun to cut my Upland hay, which is this year but thin & short; haveing severall Acres in Brynclynni & Cefn y Groes that will not be cut this year as not being worth the gathering.
