August ist.  The Wind E. N. E. calm, cloudy & dark all the morning ; the Evening for the most part was Sun- shiny and fair and the day all thro'ut was warm & dry.
2d.  The Wind S. W. calm with intervals of cloudy weather & Sun Shine all the morning , and made a shower of small rain about noon, & i or 2 more before night.
3d.  The Wind S.W. calm, cloudy and dark weather almost all day and frequent showers of small rain morning & Evening which proved but bad for my makeing my hay Stack.
4th.  The Wind S.W. calm, cloudy and dark weather for the most part this day also, but made but little rain.
5th.  The Wind variable all this day, blowing generally from W. as f[ar sw] E. & by N. very calm dark and cloudy for the most part; Paid Rhŷs Bentir 3s. 6d. for Butcher's meat ·
6th.  The Wind very inconstant this day also, changing from S.E. all the morning to N. W. in the Evening, very calm & raining hard till near 8. some Sun shine, but generally dark & close weather.
7th.  The Wind E. & by N. calm, sun shiny clear & hot all this day·
8th.  The Wind E. N. E. very calm, Sun shiny fair & very hot all this day also. and my people were finishing this day the upland hay stacks
9th.  The Wind E. & by N. very calm Sun shiny & exceeding hot all– this day also & my people are harvesting the meadow hay. Paid Owen Jones of Bettws 3L. i5s. for 2 Peggets of English Malt and 2L. i0s. for two Peggets of Barley .
i0th.  The Wind N. E. calm, Sun shiny & very hot all this day also, and my people at the same work.
iith.  The Wind N. N. E. blowing pretty fresh, Sun shiny,clear & fair and very hot all this day likewise.
i2th.  The Wind N. N. E. blowing pretty fresh, Sun shiny fair& very hot weather all this day also, and my people are makeing the meadow hay into stacks ; Paid Rhŷs Bentir 2s. iid. for a Side of Mutton at 2d. a pound: is. 6d. for a Side of Goat, & is. for a quarter of Veal, the two last I bought by the [hand sw]. A little before 5 this Evening   ☞ [this pointing symbol is in the margin pointing at this line sw] the Sun shining clear & hot & blowing pretty fresh, an uncommon Noise washeard in the Air, Some said it was Thunder, others said it was an Earthquake & pretended it shook the place where they were; I sat in the Hall & heard the Noise which I could likento nothing but the Noise of the fire in the funnel of a Chimney, but I felt nothing more.
