January the 1st.  The Wind N.W. blowing very high & stormy all day, but made no rain, the Air excessive cold and raw; gave the Sexton 2s. 6d New year's gift.
2d.  The Wind W. blowing very cold and raw, but made no rain all this day . my people attend the Mason & carpenter at Coydan who are repairing the old houses that were a falling.
3d. The Wind S.S.W. blowing high & cold and raining without intermission very hard long before day [there is a punctuation mark between lines here which could be either a comma between 'cold' and 'and', or an apostrophe in front of 'till' sw] till i in the Evening. the rest of the Day dark, cloudy, moist air & very cold.
4th.  The Wind W. moist Air & very cold, dark cloudy weather, with some showers of sleet in the Evening & in the night . fenced about the young Trees in Cae'r Gegin. in order to turn ye Calves from Cae Tŷ'n y LLŵyn to that field & Cae'r Penrhyn.
5th. The Wind N.W. very dark, cloudy & cold weather all day; my Servants ['Servants is in the margin sw] at the same work at Coydan all this week.
6th.  The Wind W. blowing high in the Morning and very cold, but dry all day, the night very calm and warm, this being the day I treat my labourers & reapers. I had them at my house, & sat with my own family & half a Dozen Neighbouring —Gentlemen till ii at night. gave 2s to raffling .
7th.  The Wind N.W. blowing high & very cold accompanyed with severall showers of hail in the Morning; the Evening very cold, but dry till night when it made some showers of sleet.
8th.  The Wind W. very cold raw weather, but dry all day till the fall of night when it rained very hard, as it did most part of the night; pd. Wm. Griffith of Cŷtt part owner & Master of the Cloxan 20s. in part of the Coal money.
9th.  The Wind N.W. blowing very high & stormy about 5 in the morning & raining very hard at the same time, about 7 the Wind was allayed, and was very calm, but continued to rain excessive hard without any intermission till i in the Evening, the rest of the day dull, dark cloudy & cold.
