On the Old play called Nuts in hand.

Lo Nuts in hand! who is't that doth them claim?

’Tis I; wherfore? My Mistress sent the same.

If they were meant for you, I feign would know

Whether the Nuts I bring, be even or no?

They'r even; the Nuts deceive you, So may she;

They may; but she can use no Fallacy.

The same in Latine Verse.   Ecce nuces manibus! mihi sunt, quis Iure requirit?

Has ego; Tu quare? misit Amica mihi.

Si tibi servatæ, statim cognoscere quæro

Aequalis numerus; fallunt te, fallat at illa;

Forte Nuces fallunt; fallere Amica nequit.
